Teaching Philosophy

One of the most important aspects in my teaching is building strong fundamentals that naturally enhance one’s playing. A daily warm-up routine and etudes that cover technical challenges, articulations, pitch and tone centerings are very important. Before diving into the music and having a conversation with different composers, one needs to take the time to connect with his or her own sound first.

When this process is taken care of, the next step is creative and imaginative music making! My students and I always seek for sincere interpretations that are backed up by musical reasons. These careful decisions will give the students more consciousness and confidence in their own playing.

From what I received as a student, the most effective learning processes were an acute prowess in demonstration, reasoning, trust, honesty, patience, and dedication. I strive to bring these elements into my own teaching.

There is nothing more rewarding or exciting as watching students improve in their own speed and helping them discover their true colors in music.
